I have not one, but three oversized bathroom drawers filled with just about every ‘good’ product from the past 15 years (with some well past their expiry date!) peppered with an assortment of bobby pins the colours of which reflect the many shades of hair colour I’ve sported.
And I hasten to add that although it may seem it, I’m no hoarder! What’s in these drawers represents ‘organised hair chaos’. I must admit though, rummaging through them on a daily basis isn’t great on the nail polish (note to self – must reorganise!).
Your hair is literally hanging on by a thread so if you don’t use the right tools then all of the hours you’ve spent cooling your scalp in oncology might be wasted! I can’t stress enough how important it is to care deeply for your hair while using a scalp cooling system for the duration of your treatment and many months following… Every strand counts!
Pop these items on your shopping list!
- Mason Pearson hairbrush, for use on dry hair only. Yes, they are costly however a good investment for now and in the future(mine is almost 30 years old!). You can purchase this from leading pharmacies or online.
- The Wetbrush. This godsend is brilliant for brushing wet hair in the shower or bath. You can purchase this product online – watch out for imitations!
- Bobby Pins. I love the Premium Pin Company 999 brand, which you can purchase online. These are a good length and the plastic tips will not catch the hair.
- Sectioning/alligator clips.
- Absolutely no combs!
